Finding light after a death isn't easy for most people.
After I died, I stayed behind to make sure that my baby sister was safe. As
time went on, I noticed the darkness was creeping in. The light that I keep
pushing off was fading. The longer I stayed, the more it weakened.
Story from Starter.
Standing over my body, watching the blood drain from it. All
I could think of was my baby sister. How did this go so wrong? She's lying on
the couch while I bleed out in the back yard. I'm not the only one standing
over my body. The killer is too. Our next-door neighbor, Jake. I knew something
wasn't right about him, but I never told anyone. He killed all the stray cats
and dogs on our street. I watched him hang one of them on Mrs. Jensen's Tree.
No one liked her, but that's beside the point. I didn't tell anyone because I
didn't want to be outed as a snitch. Looking back, I should have told someone
what I knew. It's too late now. My sister and I are the only ones' home. Mom
and dad should be home tomorrow morning after my body is found. I'll stay with
her until they get home. I can't do much to protect her, but I can be there for
her. Jake moving brought me back. He was lifting me up. "No," I
screamed, "Leave me here." but Jake didn't hear me. No one heard me.
He carried me to the front door and laid me on the front step. With my blood on
his hands, he wrote 'She knew too much' on the front door. I float over to the
writing, and I try to wipe it off. It can't stay there. This will lead the
police down the wrong path. I wasn't apart of a gang or anything. I was a
normal sixteen-year-old girl. Well, as normal as I could be. The blood wasn't
wiping away. I wasn't doing anything. He started putting pressure on the stab
wound, acting like he was trying to bring me back to life.
"Someone help!" he screamed. "I need help,"
I laugh. They don't know how right that is. Lights across the street turned on.
"Please, someone help," he screamed again. Lilly opened the front
door and screamed when she saw me lying there with so much blood. People started
running over to try and help. Why wasn't anyone question Jake? He killed me.
"What happened, Jake?" Sharon, his mother, asked,
holding Lilly as she sobbed.
"I don't know, I was just going for a walk and seen
Shylo, laying here with that written on the door. I came over to try and save
her, but I was too late." he fake sobs. 'You lier you killed me.' I scream,
trying to get my sister out of her arms. She needs to get away from the family.
"Guys, I found more blood out back." Jackson, his
dad, says, walking around front.
"The police are on their way." Mrs. Jensen says. "Come
on, Lilly, come with me, and we will call your mom and dad." I know I didn't
like her, but she is better than his family. Lilly slowly nods, and Mrs. Jensen
puts an arm around her ushering her away from the scene.
"Jake, did you see anyone?" Jackson asks.
"No, I didn't see anyone."
"Well, it's a good thing that they have camera's around
the house."
"When did they get them installed?" Sharon asks.
Yeah, when did we get them installed? I didn't know we had cameras.
"Two weeks ago, I helped Lyle set them up." Oh, so
that's what they were doing. Wait that means Jake was caught on tape killing
me. 'You're going to Jail' I dance around him. His pale face getting even
whiter. "Come on Jake, let's get you out of these clothe so we can hand
them over to the police." he dad says stepping right through me. The three
of them leave. Now it's just my body, Jason, and me. Jason looks right where I
am standing.
"Shylo?" he asks, "Am I going crazy right
now?" he whispers.
"Wait, you can see me?" He nods. "Then why
didn't you tell them he killed me?" I scream, and he covers his ears.
"Please stop screaming," he says quietly. "Follow
me, and we will talk somewhere else. I don't want to look even crazier than I
already do." he walks down my yard and turns like he is waiting on me, so
I follow him, and we walk side by side, well he walks, and I float towards his
house. "Come in," he says. "Mom, I'm home," he says,
walking inside.
"What happened, hon-" she freezes, looking right
at me. "Jason, what is Shylo doing here? Shouldn't you be at home?"
"You can see me too?" I float back.
"Mom, she is dead," Jason says.
