Day 4 of 30 Days of Writing Prompts

Let me start off before we get into this writing prompt. I have no idea what I am going to write for this one. You might or might not be thinking then why you picked this writing prompt if you don’t have anything to write for it. Well, the reason I picked it is because it’ll force me out of my comfort zone with writing. I’ve never really written a mystery type story. Though, this isn’t completely out of my comfort zone because there seems to be an underlying theme of romance. I am going to try and keep the focus on the mystery, but I Also know myself. I will most likely write some romance into the story.

Writing Prompt #941

Laid off from your job, you come home early to find your fiancé sleeping with your so-called best friend. To top it off, your great-aunt has passed away. You haven't seen her since you were a child, but you receive a letter from a solicitor notifying you of her passing and that you are her sole beneficiary. To what, the letter doesn't state, only that you have to appear for the reading of the will in person. You've never been to England, but now is as good a time as any. Your great-aunt lived a full life, if not a little bit eccentrically. She left you everything, including the estate, but with a catch: For the will to be permanent, you have to find the Trinity Stones within your great-aunt's manor. The story is that the queen, jealous of her stepdaughters' beauty, stole the stones and trapped the young princesses inside. Find the stones, and you free the sisters. The folklore is as old as the house. Nevertheless, you are determined to find them, and you have the help of the attractive young solicitor, who feels duty-bound to help you search for them.

“Get the fuck out of my apartment.” I scream as my now ex-fiancĂ© and my ex-best friend, rush to get dressed. All I want to do is scream out in a pain and beg him to tell me why he would cheat on me, but I don’t want to give him any hope. He won’t be able to save our relationship. My ex-best friend, Carly, looks over at me.

“Please. I didn’t mean to fall for him. I’m so so sorry.” She sobs after she is fully dressed. “Please don’t do this. We’ve been friends for a long time. Our friendship means everything to me.” I look up at the ceiling and hold my breath. I then shake my head.

“Get out.” I grit out. “I want nothing to do with both of you.” I turn and walk into the on suite. Just before I enter the bathroom, I say to them over my shoulder. “When I come out of this bathroom, I don’t want to see either of you. If I do I will be calling the police.” I then walk into the bathroom slamming the door shut. I hear Jake sigh. I lean on the counter.

“You fucked everything up.” He hisses. My legs nearly collapse at the sound of his voice. I hear movement from the bedroom and then I hear the front door slam shut. “You got a letter from your grandmother estate. It’s on the kitchen counter. We need to talk soon to go over how to split everything.”

“The only thing we need to split is the bed, which you can take I don’t want that filthy thing. The DVD collection, Which you can have anything out of it and I’ll keep the rest. But for anything else, there isn’t anything to talk about. I own the house, it doesn’t have your name attached to it. The rest of the stuff in this house was bought by me using my hard earned money, except for the bed.” I growl through the door. I don’t think that I can look at him and still hold myself together. I hear him sigh.

“I’m sorry.” He says as I hear his head lightly hit the bathroom door. “Please come out here and let’s talk about everything.” He pleads. I shake my head but I don’t say anything. I realize that he can’t see me but I still don’t say anything. “Please.” He pleads again.

“No,” I whisper out.

“Okay,” He says sounding upset then I hear him walk away. “I’ll be back to get my stuff.” He says.

{End of Timer

As the 30 minutes have finished. I have a story started here. So, I plan on continuing this writing prompt after the 30 days are over. I like what I've started here so, I want to keep working on it.}
