Day 13 of 30 Days of Writing Prompts

Written in the 30 Minute timer.

Writing Prompt #1,056

Against your wishes, your father has sent you off to an all-girls boarding school in a remote part of the Midwest after moving for his job. You attend your classes and make a few friends, but one group of girls in particular strike you as odd. One night you see them silently sneak into the woods and decide to follow. You find them dancing around a small bonfire, singing in harmony. In the flames, you see the outlines of horses flickering, and within moments, real horses burst out of the flames. The girls mount them with glee and ride off into the forest. The next day you confront them about it and learn that they have been practicing magic from an old book in the library. You join in on the fun, but when you learn the origins of the book and the darkness that seeks to take it back, it is up to you to protect the book, your friends, and the school itself.

“Sage” Jade runs up to me. I turn around just in time to catch Jade in my arms. She may be the same age as me but she doesn’t look it. She has pink shoulder length hair, green eyes, pale skin and stand at a tall 4’3”. She is also the most energetic of us all. Following closely behind her I see Carly, who has a blonde pixie cut, with brown eyes, slightly tanned skin and stands at an even 5 foot. These two are never far apart. If you ever see Carly then Jade is withing 5 feet. They look nothing alike but they are siblings.

“Have you seen, Sophie, yet?” Carly asks and I shake my head.

“I just got down here as well. What’s going on?” I ask.

“Sophie, mom showed up this morning. She sounded pissed.” Jade says finally letting go of me. “She was yelling and it sounded like somethings where throw.” Worry makes my heart ache. Sophie’s mom is on the school board. I look down at Jade.

“What was she yelling about this time?” I ask Jade. Carly gives Jade a glare most likely trying to tell her sister to shut the fuck up. But Jade never listens.

“She was yelling about our club.” Due to the schools rules we have to be apart of a after school club. It was my idea to make a club called Blackwooden books. A play on the coven name we picked and the spell book. “She sounded very pissed that she joined our club and not a ‘normal’ club.”

“Jade.” Carly hisses and Jade rolls her eyes.

“Sage, should know about it.” Jade says

“It’s not our place to tell her.” Carly says and my heart plummets.

“Tell me what?” I ask and Carly sighs.

“Sophie’s mom is going to make her drop from the club.” Jade says.

“But the school will fail her for this quarter for dropping out of a club, this last into the quarter.” I say looking around trying to find Sophie. I spot Jazmen, Sophie’s roommate. I wave at her for to come over, as she makes her way over I notice a few other students watching her.

Sadly the time got away from me again. I need to figure out how to get what's in my head out into writing without focusing so hard on the spelling part of it. As always thank you guys for taking the time to read this.
