Written in 30 minutes.

Writing Prompt #930

During a business conference in the Greek islands, you hear a sweet and soft song floating on the air from a distance. You walk down the beach, following the sound, and find a woman in the water beckoning you to come closer. You move closer before sitting down on the beach to listen to her voice. Days pass and you become too weak to stand. Nevertheless, you remained entranced by this creature. Suddenly her singing shifts to crying, and she tells you that, although she is the last of her kind, she cannot bear to devour another victim. You vow to help her, not knowing if the love you have for her is true or is a result of the siren's curse.

‟Falling in love.” She sings but suddenly her singing turns into pleads. ‟Please leave before you die.” She pleads ‟I may be the last of my kind but I don’t want to kill another person. Please.” She begs me. I force my lips to part.
‟I’m not leaving you.” I state. ‟I’m in love with you.” I say trying to get my legs to move but can’t. She jumps into the sea and swims closer to me. She reaches out to me and I try to lift my arms for her but just like with my legs I can’t force them to move.  ‟Come closer. I can’t force myself to move.” She nods her head. I’m so thankful that it’s high tide. The water is just at my feet. She gets as close as her body will allow.

‟I don’t know what will happen the moment that I touch you.” She says to me. I don’t care what happens as long as I’m with her.

‟I don’t care. I’m just happy I get to be with you.” I say. ‟Kiss me, please.” She nods. Once her lips touch my I feel a wave of energy crash over me and I’m able to move my arm. I pull her closer. She pulls back from the kiss and lays her head on my chest. I felt different. I don’t why but I feel completely different. ‟Where do you live?” I ask her after what feels like forever.

‟Under the sea.” She sighs. ‟You can’t come with me. You won’t be able to breathe.”

‟How you guys reproduce?” I ask. She shrugs.

‟I was always told we take a male down to our home and use him to get us pregnant, but I don’t know how to do that.” She says and I look up to the sky and see it is still completely dark out.

‟Use me right here. You can use me right now.” I say without thinking.

“NO” She screeches.
